Background:
Mercy Corps in Jordan implemented a project entitled “Access to Education and Psycho-Social Support for Children in Public Schools” to address the situation and needs of the Syrian, Iraqi and Jordanian children with disabilities such as learning disabilities, mild mental disabilities, mild visual, mild hearing, speech and physical disabilities and to provide them with equal chances to attend quality elementary education in public schools. addition, Mercy Corps works with the community and parents to raise awareness and to provide specialized education services to children with severe disabilities at home.
Istidama’s engagement was twofold (separate consultancies) targeting 50 public schools:
- Baseline study
- Impact evaluation
Research Approach:
Both baseline and impact evaluation studies utilized quantitative data collection methods to capture the status/progress against project indicators. Data collection tools includes:
- Survey targeting beneficiary students (children with disabilities-CWDs)
- Survey targeting parents and community leaders
- Survey targeting school staff (teachers, shadow teachers, principals)
