Project title:
Impact evaluation of the EU-funded public school development project across 5 governorates
Client:
Jordan River Foundation
Location:
Jordan (Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, and Madaba)
Background:
The purpose of assessment was to evaluate the success of JRF Initiative in implementing the project “Improvement of the Quality of Education through Promoting Social Cohesion between Communities in 100 Double Shift Schools in Camps and Host Communities” which was supported by the EU Delegation in Jordan. The EC support to Jordan aimed at achieving goal number four of the Sustainable Development Goals which is ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all children. This support ultimately covered mitigating the negative impacts and strains of the Syrian crisis on the education system.
Research Approach:
Istidama’s team designed a descriptive methodology comprising both qualitative and quantitative research methods that aimed at collecting primary data from target groups including students, teachers, and parents, in order to examine the implementation of the project intervention against the planned project activities and targets stated in the grant application. The evaluation focused on capturing the intervention’s relevance, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability.
The research methods included:
- Survey targeting schools’ students across 5 governorates
- Semi-structured interviews targeting project team, schools’ staff, and Ministry of Education representatives.
- Focus Groups Discussions targeting students’ parents
- Field observation to a sample of target schools
